A Message from UFCW Local 328 President Timothy Melia this Labor Day

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I just wanted to take a moment to wish each of you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day is the day that recognizes and remembers the sacrifices that working people have made over the years, many of them sacrificing their safety as well as their lives. In the year 2020, people are risking the same things.

Workers all over the country have continued to work during this pandemic making sure that people in their communities have the essential supplies they need to survive. People who work in retail food, health care, packing houses as well as our first responders put not just their health and safety on the line, but that of their families as well to make sure we all have what we need.

All of you are true heroes.

Since 1894, when the United States first created this holiday, it was created to recognize what the hard working men and women have contributed to this great nation, and it was never truer than this year.

It was labor that built not only the middle class, but also provided the work that made this country the greatest nation in the world.

So, take a moment this weekend to not just remember all the workers who came before us, but to remember all that you have done this year.

Happy Labor Day!

In Solidarity,

Timothy Melia

President
