GATRA workers on strike!

Over 135 GATRA transit workers—bus operators, mechanics, call center and scheduling staff—members of ATU Local 1548 in Plymouth, MA, have gone on strike as of today. Workers are picketing outside GATRA Headquarters, 10 Oak St., Taunton, MA, and will remain out until a fair agreement is reached.
These workers, who keep Taunton, Attleboro, and surrounding communities moving, are fighting back after months of disrespect and stalled contract talks. Despite GATRA receiving state funding, its workers earn the lowest pay and have the weakest benefits of any regional transit authority in Massachusetts. Members overwhelmingly rejected another subpar offer from management this week, leaving them no choice but to strike.
What’s at stake:
- Fair wages and benefits so workers are not forced to live out of their cars.
- Respect and dignity for the frontline transit workers who make sure riders can safely get to work, school, and medical care.
- A reliable, affordable public transit system for the community.
How you can help:
- Join the picket line at GATRA HQ, 10 Oak St., Taunton, MA.
- Share this message with friends and family.
- Stand with ATU Local 1548 as they fight for the fair contract they deserve.
As ATU International President John Costa said, “They are essential workers that the Taunton, Attleboro, and surrounding communities rely on every day. GATRA can end this strike by giving these frontline workers the fair and just contract they deserve.”
Let’s show GATRA management that the labor movement stands united with ATU Local 1548.
