Jim Riley
Jim was hired by UFCW Local 328 in 1997 as Director of Organizing. Since that time, Jim has directed 24 elections, winning union representation for 800 members at 14 companies. Jim was elected as Secretary Treasurer of Local 328 in 2002. Jim is the Secretary-Treasurer for the UFCW New England Council and a member of the Board of Trustees of the RI Institute for Labor Studies & Research. Jim began his career in the labor movement as a meat cutter at Stop & Shop in 1976. Jim was active in his local union (Local 371, Westport Connecticut) and caught the attention of Local 371’s President, Bob Petronella, who was also a Vice President of the UFCW International Union. Bob hired Jim to work full time for the International. Jim spent 13 years “on the road” working and organizing companies all across the United States.
