Now is the time to start thinking about applying for a Local 328 Scholarship. Local 328 knows that tuition costs continue to escalate so, as approved by the Local 328 Executive Board, we have increased our annual ten (10) Scholarship Awards to $1,500. This Scholarship Awards Program is open to all members of Local 328; including sons, daughters, spouses, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren of our members.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at any post secondary college/university or vocational/technical school. Students wishing to apply for the scholarship will be required to submit a five hundred (500) word essay. This year's essay topic will be to "Write a letter to the CEO of Wal-Mart expressing your concerns over their importation of unsafe food, pet supplies and toys." The essays are independently judged. The scholarship recipients will be notified by mail in May 2008. Applicants must also submit a "yearbook style" photo that may be published in the "Union Voice" along with their essay and application. All applications, essays and photos must be received no later than March 31, 2008. Local 328 is here to help with your education and urges you to apply.
If you have any further questions, please contact the Union office.
