Stop & Shop Negotiations Update 4/7/16
Good evening Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to start by saying “Thank You” to everyone who attended the rally we held at the Stop & Shop on Branch Ave. The turnout was better than we had anticipated with members from Local 328 as well as from all the other locals in New England. We were also joined by the Mayor of Providence Jorge Elorza as well as the President of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO George Nee.
For the last three days, we have met with Stop & Shop in Providence. We have made some progress and continue to narrow the issues down to just a few, while settling other issues to close them out. Health and Welfare and wages remain unresolved to this point, but we are working to come to an agreement on these and all remaining issues.
We will resume bargaining tomorrow with still a handful of issues remaining, we will work towards putting this together as a completed package that we can present to the membership.
Please stay posted to the local’s website and Facebook pages for updates and announcements.
I thank you for your continued support and patience during these sometimes frustrating and trying times.
Our unity is our strength and our strength is our unity.
I remain,
Sincerely and fraternally yours,
Timothy Melia
President
