A Reminder to Apply! 2023 Scholarship Opportunities

UFCW Local 328 members are eligible to apply for several scholarship opportunities. Please see below for more information:

UFCW Local 328 Scholarship: Each year, the Local 328 Scholarship Committee awards ten (10) $1,500 Scholarships. This scholarship can only be awarded to an eligible member, spouse, child, or grandchild of a qualified member of either UFCW Local 328 or the Local 328 Retiree’s Club. The person who qualifies the applicant must be an active dues paying member and be in good standing with Local 328 or with the Local 328 Retiree’s Club. Additionally, students must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at any post-secondary college/university or vocational/technical school.

Essay Topic Question: Union organizing has been in the news a lot lately, from efforts to organize Starbucks Coffee Shops to Amazon Warehouses. What does it mean for a workplace to organize and join a union? If you were a Union Organizer, how would you persuade these workers to join the union?

Winners: :     All winners will be notified by mail no later than June 30, 2023. Winners are required to forward to the union office verification of their Fall 2023 full-time enrollment no later than November 4, 2023. This information can be obtained by contacting your school’s Bursar’s office (typically after the add/drop period has ended). This documentation must be on the school’s official letterhead and must be embossed with the schools official seal.

The Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council is offering three (3) $1000 scholarships available to high school seniors living in Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands whose parents, legal guardian, aunts, uncles, or grandparents are members of a labor union affiliated with the Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council. The student applicant may also be a member of a labor union affiliated to the labor council. (UFCW Local 328 is affiliated) For more information, please click the link below.
