A Reminder to Submit Applications for Our Scholarship Program! – Deadline is April 30th
Each year, the Local 328 Scholarship Committee awards ten (10) $1,500 Scholarships. The Scholarship Program is open to all active dues paying members who are in good standing with Local 328 or with the Local 328 Retirees’ Club, or to the spouse, child or grandchild of an active dues paying member as stated above.
Students must be enrolled full-time in a degree program at any post secondary college/university or vocational/technical school. Students wishing to apply for the scholarship are required to submit a minimum five hundred (500) word essay on the topic below. Your name should not be on or included within your essay. Please refer to the scholarship application for further eligibility rules and restrictions.
Essay Topic Question: With the national election now in the rearview mirror, on January 20th the United States will install its 46th President. With each changing administration, there are major changes and appointments to the Department of Labor as well as the National Labor Relations Board that directly affect working people in this country. In 500 words, explain how those political changes with either a Republican or a Democrat president affects each of these federal labor departments, and how the new administration will impact those boards either negatively or positively.
Winners: All winners will be notified by mail no later than June 30, 2021. Winners are required to forward to the union office verification of their Fall 2021 full-time enrollment no later than November 5, 2021. This information can be obtained by contacting your school’s Bursar’s office (typically after the add/drop period has ended). This documentation must be on the school’s official letterhead and must be embossed with the schools official seal. *All submitted essays and photographs become the property of UFCW Local 328 and may be published in the Union Voice newsletter and/or Local 328 social media. Students wishing to apply for the scholarship are required to submit a minimum five hundred (500)-word essay on the topic listed in the application. When submitting your essay, please do not include your name on or within the essay as they are anonymously judged. Attach your essay to the completed scholarship application and include your photo.
