Stop & Shop has extended the 10% hazard pay through July 4th. As we approach that date, it will be reviewed again.
We thank all of our hardworking members for their continued dedication to serving their communities on the frontlines during this crisis. You continue to provide food security in an environment where you are exposed to thousands of customers each day with the very real risk of infection still present.
We would also like to offer our appreciation to all of our members and everyone in the community who signed the petition calling on the company to extend the hazard pay. Remarkably, over 10,000 people have signed it. That petition was started by a UFCW Stop & Shop member and we thank her for taking action. Being a union member means getting involved and we thank her for joining this fight for fairness, safety, dignity and respect. We will continue to stand up for and with all workers on the frontlines.
When other major grocery companies have shamefully eliminated hazard pay, we appreciate Stop & Shop doing the right thing by their employees and our communities by continuing to offer this benefit.
