UFCW Local 328 offers several scholarships for students. Eligible participants must be enrolled full time in a degree program at any post secondary college/university or vocational/technical school. In addition, applicants must be an eligible member, spouse, child, or grandchild of an active Local 328 member or the Local 328 Retirees club. Be sure to check this website and your union bulletin board for more information.
The UFCW International Union also offers a scholarship to graduating high school seniors, awarded in each of the regions in the U.S. and Canada.
Other scholarships are offered through the local’s affiliation with the AFL-CIO. Most of the local labor councils offer scholarships to our union members.

Adrian Alviarez
Adrian is the son of member Karen Alviarez employed by Stop & Shop #35, Hingham, MA. Adrian is entering his freshman year at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Buzzards Bay, MA where he is working towards a Degree in Emergency Management.
Abby M. Bauman
Abby is the daughter of member Janice Bauman who is employed by Stop & Shop #736, Westerly, RI. Abby is entering her junior year at Colby College in Waterville, Maine where she is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Government/English Major. Abby is a three-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Zachary T. Benoit
Zachary is the son of member Paula Furtado Benoit who works at Stop & Shop #473, Fall River, MA. Zachary is entering his sophomore year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where he is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree. Zachary is a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Makayla H. Falco
Makayla is the daughter of member Laurie Falco, who is employed by Stop & Shop #708, Middletown, RI. Makayla is entering her junior year at Gordon College, Wenham, MA where she is working on a Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree in Social Welfare & Psychology.
Matthew C. Ferreira
Matthew is employed at Stop & Shop #723, Bristol, RI. Matthew is entering his junior year at Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI where he is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies. Matthew is a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Brian R. Lannon
Brian is employed by Stop & Shop #28, Norwell, MA. Brian is entering his senior year at Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater, MA where he is working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Brian is a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Addison M. McDonagh
Addison is the granddaughter of Stephen and Maureen Clark who are active members of the Retirees’ Club, formerly employed by Stop & Shop #35 Hingham, and Holbrook, MA. Addison is entering her sophomore year at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT where she is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Addison is a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Emma Williams
Emma is the granddaughter of Barbara Muzrim who is an active members of the Retirees’ Club, formerly employed by Stop & Shop #2414 Pembroke, MA. Emma is entering her Graduate year at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA where she is working towards a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. Emma is a three-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!
Sydney J. Willis
Sydney is the daughter of Michelle Willis who is employed at Stop & Shop #12, Sandwich, MA. Sydney is entering her freshman year at the University of Rhode Island, in Kingston, RI where she is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations.
Victoria J. Wilson
Victoria is employed at Stop & Shop Store #490 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. This fall, she will begin her freshman year at Bridgewater State University, where she will be pursuing her undergraduate degree.
UFCW Discount College Program
Whether you’re looking for affordable degree options for your family members or want to continue your own education, the UFCW Discount College Program gives you an affordable and flexible path to earning your degree. All classes are online and you can attend part-time or full-time based on your availability.
The new program replaces the previously existing “Free College Benefit,” and expands UFCW members’ access to a broader selection of participating colleges as well as degree programs spanning from certificates and associate to bachelor’s degrees. We will also be introducing master’s degrees as a new addition to the program, providing even more opportunities for our participants.

Roger Williams University – 15% Tuition Discount
We’re excited to announce a new member benefit! UFCW Local 328 members are eligible to receive a 15% tuition discount at Roger Williams University! Classes are available both online and in-person.
Additionally, through the university’s PLA program, students can earn college credits for knowledge and skills acquired outside of traditional academic settings, including for work experience, military training, certifications and licenses, volunteer work, second language skills, and independent study.
