Scholarships

UFCW Local 328 offers several scholarships for students. Eligible participants must be enrolled full time in a degree program at any post secondary college/university or vocational/technical school. In addition, applicants must be an eligible member, spouse, child, or grandchild of an active Local 328 member or the Local 328 Retirees club. Be sure to check this website and your union bulletin board for more information.

The UFCW International Union also offers a scholarship to graduating high school seniors, awarded in each of the regions in the U.S. and Canada.

Other scholarships are offered through the local’s affiliation with the AFL-CIO. Most of the local labor councils offer scholarships to our union members.

UFCW Local 328 Scholarship Application 2023(Applications must be submitted or postmarked no later than April 30, 2023) * if you are unable to access the scholarship application, please open with Internet Explorer

UFCW International Scholarship Program The application will be available from February 13th through May 14th, 2023)

The Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council Scholarship(Applications must be submitted by April 21st, 2023)

The Robert Burke Petronella Scholarship Fund (Applications must be submitted by June 15th, 2023)

Katharine E. Bianchi

Katharine is the daughter of member Raymond Bianchi who is employed by Stop & Shop #704, Cumberland, RI.  Katharine is entering her sophomore year at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI where she is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Grace E. Cerrato

Grace is the daughter of member Robert Cerrato who is employed by UFCW Local 328.  Grace is beginning her junior year at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA where she is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Pre-Med.  Grace a three-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!

Naomi C. Cooper

Naomi is the granddaughter of member Donna Allison who is employed by Stop & Shop #487, East Weymouth, MA.  Naomi is beginning her freshman year at Stonehill College in Easton, MA where she will be working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.   

Kyle M. Creney

Kyle is employed by Stop & Shop #35, Hingham, MA.  Kyle is beginning his senior year at the Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA where he is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.  Kyle has been a member of Local 328 since 2020. 

Sean M. Curtin

Sean is employed by Stop & Shop #35, Hingham, MA.  Sean is entering his junior year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where he is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.  Sean a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!

Brandon R. Miranda

Brandon is the son of member Maria Miranda who is employed by Stop & Shop #71, Fall River, MA.  Brandon is entering his junior year at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT where he is working on a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science.

Nicholas J. Neves

Nicholas is the son of José Neves who is employed by Durham School Services, Cumberland, RI.  Nicholas is entering his sophomore year at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI where he is working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Math.

Renata A. Palladino

Renata is the daughter of Barbara and Mario Palladino who work at Stop & Shop #444, Whitman, MA.  Renata is entering her sophomore year at the State University of New York in Oneonta, NY where she is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in History.  Renata a two-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!

Domenic A. Pontarelli

Domenic is the son of Donald Pontarelli who is employed by Stop & Shop #443, South Attleboro, MA.  Domenic is beginning his senior year at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI working towards a Degree in Education.  Domenic is a three-time winner of a Local 328 scholarship!

Emma E. Williams

Emma is the granddaughter Barbara Muzrim who is an active member of the Retirees’ Club, formerly employed by Stop & Shop #2414, Pembroke, MA  Emma is entering her freshman year at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA where she will be working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. 

UFCW Free GED Program 
 
The UFCW has available a no-cost GED program for all UFCW members.
 
The UFCW GED program offers a customized learning plan, so that you’ll be able to prepare yourself to pass the GED test, regardless of when you last went to school.
