Stop & Shop Shamefully Announces End of Hazard Pay for All Associates

To Our Members Working at Stop & Shop:
After multiple attempts to negotiate with Stop & Shop on extending hazard pay beyond July 4th, the company informed us today that they will be ending what they called “appreciation pay.” It is clear to us that the company never intended to negotiate in good faith as they never offered a single counterproposal or alternative beyond the word “no.”
We will be ramping up our efforts, as well as reaching out to our partners in elected office, to ask them to push legislation that would protect workers while at the same time providing legislative hazard pay.
Our top priority is to keep you and your coworkers’ safe at work. Please continue to wear your masks, face shields, gloves, and observe social distancing protocols. If you need PPEs of any kind or hand sanitizer, reach out to your Union Representative as soon as possible.
Thank you for all of the work that you have done to support your customers and community during this crisis. Although your employer may feel that there isn’t a need to show their appreciation for you anymore, we appreciate each and every single one of you. You have our commitment that we will do everything in our powers to make sure your employer does the right thing.
